In Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus is letting His disciples know, they are to be visible to the world. To show how The Lord has changed their lives. Therefore, when others see them, they will understand The Lord can do the same for them. The same applies to us today, “let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in Heaven.” The key word in the above sentence is light. All of us, prior to accepting Jesus Christ into our lives were in darkness. We were stumbling along in the dark trying to make it from one day to the next. We were dealing with situations that were spinning out of control, and the more we tried to correct them, the worse they became. Why? Because, we were trying to fix what we could not see. Think about this, a doctor performing a surgery is in a well-lit room and still uses additional light to shine on the surgical area. That is why Jesus came to bring light to a darken world. Now that we have received this light, we have to let it shine. So others can see us in our good works and give glory to our Heavenly Father. We don’t ever want anyone to think it is about us, because it’s not. It’s about how The Lord took us from nothing to become children of The Lord.
I challenge you today to let your light shine so others can see your good works. Some people will look at you and not understand, but that’s alright. The purpose for doing this is so others will know there is a God, who can perform miracles. When they look at you, they are looking at a miracle because some thought you would be nothing. Look at what God has done, it’s time to shine!
