Having Trouble Giving by PayPal?

Depending on how you setup your account, you may have turned on 2FA (Two-Step Factor Authentication) which requires receiving either a code to your phone (by text message) or by email to your email address or by using authentication app based on what you choose when you initially setup your PayPal account.  You must enter the code that you received into PayPal screen before you can gain access to give/donate to BRBC.

2FA (Two-Step Factor Authentication) is used as extra security to prevent unauthorized use of your PayPal account by someone that is not you.  2FA is an extra layer of security to protect your account from being accessed by cyber criminals.  You have the option to turn this off if you desire to do so.

You can reach out to PayPal for support (click here https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/contact-us or dial: 1-888-221-1161) with removing 2FA if you don’t remember which device, phone, or email address you used to create your PayPal account.

How do I know if I have 2FA (Two-Step Factor Authentication) on my PayPal Account turned on?

When you click on Donate button on the Give website you may see something like this image after you enter your login username and password:

How do I turn on or off 2-step verification for PayPal account login?

You can add an extra layer of security to your PayPal account by enabling 2-step verification for login. Once this feature is activated, we’ll send you a unique, random 6-digit access code each time you try to log in. Simply enter this code to access your account.

There are two ways to set up 2-step verification. You can use an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator) or you can ask PayPal to send text messages to your mobile phone.

Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Go to your Settings.

  2. Click Security.

  3. Click Set Up next to “2-step verification.”

  4. Choose to receive a text or use an authenticator app, then click Next.

  5. Follow the prompts to link your phone or authenticator app.

  6. Set up a back-up method in case you can’t access your primary cell or authenticator app.

  7. Click Done to activate 2-step verification.

You can deactivate 2-step verification at any time:

  1. Go to your Settings.

  2. Click Security.

  3. Click Update next to “2-step verification.”

  4. Click Turn Off next to 2-step verification, then the Turn It Off button.

You can opt to skip 2-step verification on a device you trust. Simply log in to PayPal on the device and complete 2-step verification, then you’ll see the option to trust this device. To opt out, go to the “2-step verification” section in your Settings and revoke the permission on this device.

Note: Please review and update the mobile number registered on your PayPal account regularly to make sure it’s up to date. When you add your mobile number, PayPal will be able to get in touch with you or reach you via text message to help service your account.
