Whether we want to believe it or not, there are two things that are competing for your attention. You have to decide which one will get it. This is where the struggle comes in initially, but if you follow the evidence you will see which one will last. I know you want to know the two things I’m talking about, I’m glad you asked. The two things competing for your attention are truth and lie. You are constantly given information, but you have to decipher which one will get your attention. It’s not always easy to distinguish between truth and lie. A lie has learned how to mix in some truth, but will always cause you to deviate from the foundation of truth. Lies don’t have a foundation, so they have to give some essence of truth to get your attention. Since they don’t have a foundation they will eventually fall apart, leaving you with no support. However, truth is tough for some to embrace, because it does not cut corners or tickle your ears. In essence truth is presented before you letting you know it will take work, and it will not be easy. But, when you endure in truth, something happens that was not expected. When things get tough, the truth continues to support you. This helps you to understand, by giving truth your attention it will not be easy, but it’s worth it. Why, because it has made you better, and not bitter.
In Matthew 28:11-20, the battle is occurring between truth and lie. When the leaders heard that Jesus was resurrected, they devised a plan to spread a lie. By saying, Jesus’ disciples came at night and removed His body from the tomb. They did this after the guards told them Jesus’ body was not in the tomb. They did not want to believe that He was risen, so they paid these guards money to spread the lie. They were able to get the attention of some, because Jesus’ body was no longer in the tomb. This was the truth, but they twisted the why. By twisting the why, it caused some people to remain in the dark: they believed the lie, that Jesus’ body was removed by His disciples. The disciples were told to go to Galilee, and Jesus would meet them at the mountain. Once they arrived, Jesus was there to meet them. When they saw Him, they began to worship Him. They arrived at this place, by receiving the truth from Mary Magdalene. She saw Jesus resurrected, and He told her to tell them to go to Galilee. They had to decide to embrace what they were told, and travel to Galilee. This would require them to step out on faith, and accept what they were told as truth. It would take some time to arrive at their destination, but once they were there they knew it was worth it.
However, there were some that saw Jesus and doubted, this is when He told them, “all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Letting them know it’s time to shake off any doubts they may have. Then they were given the great commission, and Jesus told them, “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Letting them know the truth will support you every step of the way. Continue to walk in your blessings!
