When you build a house the most important thing is the foundation. The foundation has to be anchored to rock in order for it to withstand harsh weather conditions. When the foundation is built for houses today, they have to be inspected to insure they are anchored. This is the example Jesus used in Matthew 7:24-27, He was letting His disciples know how important it is to hear and act on the Word of God. Jesus wanted to stress to them it is not enough to just hear the Word of God. We have to apply what we have heard to our lives. If we don’t, there is no way we can make it, because life happens to everybody. Let me explain: everybody deals with trials and tribulations, everybody deals with disappointments, everybody has to deal with the death of loved one. If we don’t act on God’s word, we will be unable to move forward in life. It will be as if we built our house in sand, and when harsh weather comes it will be washed away. We have to make the decision to build our foundation on the rock, because that is the only way we will be able to make it through life situations.
I pose this question to you: what are you building on? Based on you answer will determine whether you will be able to withstand the harsh weather conditions. If in the past you would hear the Word of God and not act on it, that’s okay. If you are reading this blog that means you still have the opportunity to make the necessary changes in your life. Jesus Christ wants you to hear and act on His words, because it is the only way you will be able to move forward in life. I don’t want you to beat yourself up for what happen yesterday, because today is a new day. With a new day comes opportunity to approach situations in a new way. Therefore, it’s time for you to start building on the rock, and His name is Jesus!
