This coming Thursday is Thanksgiving day and we have a lot to be thankful for. However, as Christians we don’t just tell the Lord thank you, because we know that’s not enough. The Lord does not make us do more. When we think about: how we were living, the mistakes we made, how we were thinking about giving up on life. The list can go on, but the Lord saved us before it was too late. Since that day our lives have not been the same, so we thank the Lord through serving Him. When we look at Matthew 8:14-15 we have an example of someone who was saved that allowed their actions to express their gratitude. In these verses Jesus entered Peter’s house and His mother-in-law had a fever, and Jesus touched her hand and she was healed. She immediately got up and began to serve Jesus. She could have said thank you, but she allowed her actions to speak for her. She served, because she was thankful.
We need to know, we are saved to serve the Lord. Why, because there are a number of people in the world that are being crushed by their sins. Through our service to the Lord, we make it our business to take the Gospel to a dying world, and let them know they don’t have to stay in their current condition. The Lord wants to save their lives and we know that through His actions. He allowed himself to be nailed to a cross and He died for our sins on a Friday afternoon, but there is more! Early on the following Sunday Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead, to let us know death can’t keep us down anymore. Jesus showed us through His actions how much our Heavenly Father loves us. Through serving the Lord you express your gratitude of thanks, because everyday is a day of Thanksgiving. Hallelujah!
