The word joy is used in the Christian community, but I want us to know it is also an acronym. An acronym is a set of initials representing a name, and J.O.Y. stands for Jesus only you! In Luke 1:44 we read how John the Baptist leaped for joy while he was in his mother’s womb. What caused him to leap, he heard Mary greet his mother Elizabeth. This child which was still in the womb recognized the presence of the Savior without Him saying a word. Jesus only you can have an impact like this on a child that has yet to be born. I’m not down playing the joy John the Baptist experienced, but we have to know its much more. What happened leading up to this event, Mary was pregnant without being with a man. Based on how a child is conceived, what happened to Mary is considered to be impossible. However, things which are impossible with man are possible with God! This is how an unborn child is able to respond, because God specializes in the impossible. This is why Christmas time is an exciting time for Christians, because we are reminded what our God has done for us. Jesus only you were able to come and pay the price for our sins, so that we can be saved. The advent season is a time to rejoice, because we have received a gift that continues to bless us. Hallelujah!
