Last week we preached God loves me. This was important because some were feeling lost, while others were feeling like they were forgotten. Paul was sharing this with the Romans to let them know, they would be facing some adversity because they made the decision to step away from their native religion. This was going to cause friction among families and friends. Paul wanted them to know the actions of Jesus Christ showed how much they are loved by God and to make them aware they have made a decision that would last throughout all eternity. This week we will see what we are to do with this newfound love, we have received from God.
In Romans 5:9-11, Paul pointed out what we are to do with the love we have received. In verse nine Paul lets us know, “we have been justified by His blood.” In essence, we have been made right with God through the blood of Jesus Christ. Our Savior took it upon Himself to create an opportunity for us to be made right with God. This is something we were incapable of doing ourselves, therefore Jesus’s blood was shed for us to be justified. Jesus spared us from experiencing the wrath of God because we accepted Him into our lives as our Lord and Savior. In verse ten, Paul says, “while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son.” Paul is making it clear that God had Jesus do good work for us when we would not consider having a relationship with Him. Some would think God took a big risk by doing this for us. However, God was making His position clear, that His love for us was unconditional. Saints, God was loving us when we were at odds with Him but once we understood what was done for us we would be drawn to Him through Jesus Christ. In verse eleven Paul is expecting us to do something with all we have received from the Lord, and that is “boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” When your life has been changed by God, through your accepting Jesus Christ, you can’t keep it to yourself. The boasting we are to do is not speaking from a position of arrogance but letting others know we are satisfied with God. Why, because He has changed our lives by giving us another chance.
It’s time for you to let it be known what the Lord has done for you because it will help someone else. You are not boasting about yourself, but about how the Lord has done great things for you. You want people to know, I’m satisfied with God. Continue to walk in your blessings!
