As the people of God, we have been able to make it one day at a time. However, some days are harder than others, especially when we hear someone we knew has been taken from us due to Covid-19. This is when it gets harder, because we are doing all we can to stay safe, and we begin to wonder how much longer will this go on? We see on the news that over 206,000 people have died due to Covid-19 related issues. Some states are spiking in the number of people testing positive for Covid-19.
With all of this happening, we have been calling on the Lord to have a vaccine developed to stop the spread of the virus. Then there are days we wake up, and we feel this problem is getting worse and not better. It feels like there is a dark cloud over us, and it will not move. The prophet Jeremiah was feeling things have gone from bad to worse, and he was feeling there was a dark cloud hovering over Israel. Israel was taken captive by the Babylonians, and Jeremiah had reached a low point in his life. But something happens in Lamentations 3:22-23, he started thinking about how the Lord’s steadfast love never ceases, and His mercies never come to an end. Every morning, the Lord’s love and mercies were new everyday, and this moved him to say Great is Your Faithfulness. Recalling these things about the Lord allowed his hope to be renewed, and the dark cloud that was hovering began to disperse.
If we are not careful, this pandemic will become a dark cloud hovering over us and we will feel like we can’t recover. That’s why we have to make it our business to renew our hope in the Lord, by remembering His steadfast love for us will not cease nor will His mercies ever end. They are new every morning so we can say, great is Your faithfulness! This is how to get rid of the dark cloud and it will no longer hover over us. Knowing the Lord will see us through, thank you Lord! Continue to walk in your blessings.
