We are living in a time where a number of things are not making sense. We have been lied to about the severity of Covid-19. Initially, we were told it’s not going to have a major impact on our country; but, over 200,000 have been killed by the virus. We are experiencing major shutdowns of businesses in this country, and many will not reopen. Many people are feeling like the walls are closing in on them, and they are unable to get out. There is someone else that can relate to having these feelings of being closed in, and thinking this must be the end. Jonah was in the belly of a big fish, and thought his life was coming to an end. The question we have to ask is how did he end up in the belly of the fish? Jonah was disobedient to the will of the Lord. He was instructed to go to Nineveh and tell the people about their wickedness. To give them an opportunity to repent for their actions; but, he felt they did not deserve God’s grace and mercy. This is how he ended up in the belly of the fish, because he did not want to follow God’s instructions. However, while in the belly of the fish he prayed to God, because he wanted to receive His grace and mercy. Jonah spent 3 days in the belly of the fish, thinking deliverance was not possible. In Jonah 2:1-10, he shares what was happening to him while in the belly of the big fish. He thought he was going to drown, because the water was all over him. Then he came to the realization “deliverance belongs to God”, Jonah 2:9. Then the Lord had the fish spit him out onto dry land. We have restrictions, and some people feel like they are drowning, but we have to take time and pray. We serve a God who is able to do great things, so we are going to call on Him. When we are done praying, we are going to praise His holy name. Why? Because we believe deliverance is on the way! Be encouraged my brothers and sisters, we’ve come too far with the Lord, and we still have a ways to go. You are not at the end of the road, you are coming out of the valley of the shadow of death. Hallelujah! Continue to walk in your blessings.
