Stewardship is a concept that challenges us to do the right thing with our blessings from God. This is a principle we need to apply individually to fully understand what God will do for us. The concept of tithing is tied to stewardship, which means I will give at least 10% of what I make to God. Where do I give the tithe, at the place where I worship. When we make the decision not to apply this principle we are robbing God. In Malachi 3:8-10, the prophet shares God’s disappointment in His people who refuse to tithe in verse 8. Then tells them in verse 10 how they can correct their mistake. We are told to bring the full tithe into the storehouse. Then God says test Me, this is the only occurrence where God uses this word. This is what God saids He will do, “open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.” Through your obedience God will give you back more than you have given Him. Why, because you believe what He has told you, and did as you were instructed. God will open the windows!
How many of God’s people are limiting themselves, because they are not willing to tithe? Think about this, the government takes out their taxes before you receive your pay check. At the end of the year you file your taxes to find out you owe more money. However, God gives you all of it and expects you to do the right thing. When we tithe, God will open the windows! We will end up with more, because we have tithed. Hallelujah!
