When the Hebrews were in bondage in Egypt, their population was growing faster than the Egyptians. So Pharaoh decided to kill every male child that was born to the Hebrews. Initially the midwives were instructed to kill every male child they delivered. Pharaoh ordered every born Hebrew male child to be killed by throwing them into the Nile river. However, these were women of integrity and would not do as ordered. These women feared the Lord. This was a trying time for pregnant Hebrew women, because they did not want their baby boys to be killed.
In Exodus 2:1-10, we read about the birth of Moses. When he was born, and his mother looked at him, she saw a fine baby. It was at this point she was going to do whatever she could to save his life. For the next three months she hid her son because she did not want the Egyptians to kill him. By her making this decision she was also putting her life in jeopardy, but that didn’t matter. This makes me think about mothers because they always put the care of their children before themselves. However, her child had grown to the point where she could no longer hide him, so she had to decide what to do. She came to the conclusion to place her son into the hands of the Lord. She made a waterproof basket, placed her son in it, and placed it in the reeds along the bank of the river. Her son had gone from being watched by her, to a place where he would be exposed to everything. His older sister was watching from a distance to see what was going to happen. When you make the decision to let go, and let God, He will do the unthinkable. Pharaoh’s daughter had arrived at the river to bathe, and saw a basket. One of her attendant’s brought the basket to her, and she opened it. Pharaoh’s daughter knew it was a Hebrew child, but that didn’t matter, she fell in love with the child at that moment. The sister of the baby came and asked if she needed to get a nurse from the Hebrew women, and she was told yes. She gets her mother to come, and she takes the baby boy and nurses him, and was paid by Pharaoh’s daughter. Our God is amazing, in order for this baby boy to be saved, the mother had to do the unthinkable. Once she did, her son was given back to her, and he was no longer in hiding. Saints, are you willing to do the unthinkable? If so, then our God will do the unthinkable!
I thank God for our mother’s because they always put the needs of their children before their own. Also, there were times they had to make the tough decisions, to let go of us and let God. And, that’s when they saw God do the unthinkable. So, when you see your mother praising the Lord this is why. Continue to walk in your blessings.
Happy Mother’s Day!!!
