At the completion of Sunday service the fast we began on May 1st will be done. I thank everyone for participating in the fast, and I know the Lord has blessed them. The key for spiritual growth at Broad Rock Baptist Church, is for us to come together in unity. When we make the decision to be united in what we are doing, the Lord will bless us with what we need to move the ministry forward. This makes me think about the small band of believers that stayed in Jerusalem until they received the Holy Spirit. Many of these believers were from Galilee, and wanted to leave Jerusalem. Why, because they felt the Jews would attack them, so they wanted to flee to a place of safety. However, they remained in Jerusalem, and would assemble together encouraging one another knowing they were there waiting to be baptized with the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 2:1-13, we read about what took place on the day of Pentecost. The first thing that was noted was how they were all assembled in one place. They all had concerns about life, but that did not stop them from coming together in unity. They knew the Lord would honor the promise He made to them, so they made the decision to wait on the Lord. What promise has the Lord made to you, and you are starting to think it’s not going to happen. The Lord you serve will always do what he says, because He only speaks the truth. You have been saved by embracing the truth, now is not the time to question, but to continue to walk by faith. While they were assembled they heard a sound like the rushing of the wind that filled the entire house. By the whole house being filled all that were assembled were blessed. The metaphor used for the Holy Spirit was a tongue of fire. This is a twofold meaning, first the Lord is going to give us the ability to speak in a manner which the hearers will understand. Also, the desire we have to serve Him will grow in us, and will spread out from us. You are filled with the Holy Spirit to make an impact on the lives of others. The impact you will be making will astonish people, because they have already defined you based on where you are from. However, the Lord is letting them see how He is using you to do the unthinkable. When the Lord is using you to touch hearts, it will cause some to raise this question, “what does this mean?” This is letting you know the Lord is breaking down the walls of doubt, and drawing them in.
There will be times people will question your motives, but you have to continue to do as you have been instructed. Why, because this is the calling on your life, so don’t allow the negativity some will speak cause you to loose focus. You have been anointed with the Holy Spirit, empowered to speak the truth, so the Lord can break down the walls of doubt, and draw them in. Continue to walk in your blessings!
