We read in Jeremiah 20:9 “If I say, “I will not mention Him, or speak any more in His name,” then within me there is something like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.”  Jeremiah wanted to be silent because when he spoke God’s truth, he was persecuted. This chapter starts with Jeremiah prophesying in the house of The Lord, and the priest Pashhur the chief officer did not like what he was saying.  He struck Jeremiah and had him put in jail until the next morning.  We have to realize everybody does not want to deal with the truth.  Jeremiah was telling them the Babylonians were going to defeat them and many were going to be taken away.  This information contradicted what Pashhur had said.  When we read Jeremiah 20:9 it becomes clear why he wanted to keep silent.

God’s truth cannot be kept silenced.  No matter if the people are not in agreement with it, it is still the truth. Jeremiah used the term “burning fire” to represent truth. No matter how hard, he tried to hold back from telling the truth, it didn’t work.  He came to understand I can’t hold it, because somebody will be blessed by it.

I present you with this challenge to allow God to fire you up with His truth.  Once you receive it make it your business to share it with somebody else, because they will be blessed by it.  When you feel uncomfortable, that’s when God is going to use you in a mighty fashion.  So, you might as well give in, because you will not be able to hold it!
