There are times when we are going through trials and tribulations that we forget we have help. It’s not that we forget, but the situation has gotten our full attention. When this happens the negative thoughts take over, because our attention is on what is happening before us. Then the pain and anguish kicks in, and we become overwhelmed in the moment. This is how we lose sight of the One that has brought us a mighty long way. The enemy knows how to approach us and his intent is for us to be swallowed up in the moment. This is exactly what happened to the disciples when they saw Jesus being crucified. They forgot all that He had told them because they were swallowed up in the moment. If we are honest, we have all had moments where we were caught up in the situation and the Lord was not able to get our attention.
In John 16:22-24, Jesus was preparing the disciples for what was going to happen to Him. The pain of that moment was going to be hard for them to overcome. However, when they see Him again, they will rejoice in their hearts. They will have a joy from seeing Him again, and this joy will be so great it will remain with them. No one will be able to take it from them, and it will build up their relationship with the Lord. Having this joy, will be their motivation to take the Gospel to the world. Jesus was making them aware of what was to come, but this too shall pass. Saints, we all had to deal with the pain of the pandemic, and we were not sure when it would come to an end. At the beginning of the pandemic, some were swallowed up in the moment, because we were seeing the number of lives impacted by Covid-19. That’s when we had to take a step back from the situation, and look to the One that has brought us this far.
This is what Jesus said to His disciples, now is the time to ask anything of our Heavenly Father, and He will give it to them. Because, they are asking in the name of Jesus Christ. The Father will not deny the Son, therefore, He will not deny those that have given their lives to Jesus. He wanted them to know you are not alone, you have help to see you through. The help is available, but it’s left up to the disciples to ask for it. The same is true for us as we go through the pandemic, we have help, but it’s left up to us to ask for it. In order to do this, we will have to step back from the situation, and focus on the Lord. Yes, He will see us through. Thank you Lord for Your direction. Continue to walk in your blessings!
