I wonder how many people come to church praising the Lord, but they don’t feel blessed? They see all they don’t have, in comparison to what others do have, and say I don’t feel blessed. They work a lot of hours during the week just to keep food on the table, and they see others that might work 40 hours and have more than enough. Do we not feel blessed because, we are stuck on comparing our lives to somebody else? We must first understand our blessings are not based on our emotions. We all have days we are not feeling our best, but we are blessed to still be here. We may have a small house, but we are blessed to have a place to live. We might have to work a lot of hours to provide for our families, but we are blessed to be able to do it. We have to learn how to allow the blessings the Lord has provided for us to sink into our spirit.
This is what Mary the mother of Jesus had to do, allow the blessings to sink into her spirit. The angel Gabriel was first to tell Mary she was blessed. Also he told her Elizabeth was with child in her old age. Once the angel left Mary, he went to visit Elizabeth, and she called Mary blessed. If that was not enough the baby in her womb leaped, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. When all this took place, Mary allowed the blessings to sink into her spirit. We know this because we have Mary’s song of praise in Luke 1:46-55. In these verses Mary praised the Lord, and also stated all generations will call me blessed. Through what the Lord has done in her life, Mary will not look at what others have or what they are doing, but will focus on how blessed she is.
My brothers and sisters in Christ it’s time to let your blessings sink in!
