I wonder how many people sit in worship service on Sunday morning thinking this Church is still standing because of me. They may have paid for various repairs, or paid the mortgage a few months. First I want to thank those that were blessed to assist their Churches during times of crisis. However, I don’t want anybody to get it twisted, who blessed you to be able to help? Who created the opportunities in your life to allow you to be where you are? Who moved you from sinner to saint? The answer to all of these questions is Jesus Christ. This is exactly what Paul was sharing in Colossians 1:15-20. Paul wanted the Colossians to know all things were made possible through Jesus Christ. In verse 18 it states “He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the first born from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything.” Paul wanted the Colossians to know no matter what they are able to do, always keep Jesus Christ first. Imagine their ministry growing at a rapid pace, and some make the mistake of giving themselves the credit for the growth. The only way for them to maintain their focus was to remember how they got here.
On April 8, 2018 Broad Rock Baptist Church will be celebrating our 122nd anniversary. The reason this Church is still here is because of Jesus Christ. We know over the years there have been some rough times and there have been individuals that stepped up. The reason why they did is because each person realized “I know how I got here!”. Be blessed.
