When we come to church to worship, we come expecting to receive a blessing from God that will fill us to overflowing. Since the last time we were in church, we had to deal with various trials and tribulations; some our own and some others. We have poured out so much of ourselves that we are now running on empty. That’s why we come to church expecting to receive a blessing from God that will fill us to overflowing. The tragedy is when people come to church empty and leave the same way. How can this happen when it states in Isaiah 55:11 “so shall my word be that goes out of my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose”? How can anyone leave empty? They have made the decision to focus on the struggles they are facing, rather than on the God, who can get them through.
I wonder how many people in church are running on empty tanks? They come Sunday after Sunday burdened down by their trials and tribulations, and it’s getting hard to move. Why? Because they are running on empty. Now is the time for the people of God to embrace the Word of God, so that they can be filled. There is so much God has for us to accomplish, but we can’t do it running on empty. We have to be intentional when we come to hear the Word of God to ensure we are blessed to overflowing. When we do this, once service is over, we can say: we are full.
