The biggest mistake people can make is thinking they have everything figured out. They can tell you all the things you’re doing wrong. They can tell you all the things that are wrong in the world. Also, they are the only one who has the solutions to everything that is wrong in the world. Do you know anyone that is like this, or do you have any of these character traits? I want you to know going back over 3,000 years there were people that had these same character traits. These people have been identified in the beginning of Proverbs 3:7 where is states, “do not be wise in your own eyes”. The issue is you see everybody else as inferior. When this happens, you isolate yourself from the Lord. You don’t want to put yourself in a position where you keep the Lord out. In Proverbs 3:7-12, you are able to see how the Lord wants to establish and maintain a relationship with you.
The way to establish a relationship with the Lord is to fear Him. God does not want you to be afraid of Him, but trust Him in every aspect of your life. As trust is established you will turn from the negative things that were once important. Then healing will take place and you will have a refreshed outlook on life. You will begin to honor the Lord with what you have been blessed with, and increase will occur through your faithfulness.
To maintain this relationship, the Lord will reprimand you when your actions are not correct. When He does this, remember it is out of the love He has for you. If you don’t have a relationship with the Lord, it’s time to establish one. If you do, continue to maintain it because the Lord loves you!
