Life will have its challenges, but don’t ever think you are alone. This is important for you to understand because when many things fall in your lap all at once, it can be overwhelming. This is when the enemy wants you to look at what’s in your lap, rather than call out to the Lord. Truth be told, all of us have been guilty of paying too much attention to what’s in our lap. However, I want you to consider the following. When you feel your thoughts running constantly toward what is happening, this is your trigger to start praying. Because you understand these are things you can’t fix, so you turn them over to the Lord. Once you do, the Lord will ease your mind and you will experience peace. This is the Lord’s way of letting you know, He will work it out. I want you to remember the Lord is present in your life. His presence will assist and empower you to accomplish great things. The enemy wants to block you from reaching your potential in the Lord. However, you have to remind yourself that victory is mine!
In Psalm 61:1-4, the writer is sharing with his readers what he will do when his heart is faint. In verse one, the writer wants to make sure he has God’s attention, by using two words; hear and listen. He wants God to hear as he prays, and listen intently as he pours out his heart. There is no question the Lord hears our prayers, and is listening intently to our request. These words are more for us because we need to speak with clarity and confidence knowing the Lord will respond. The answer may not come packaged as we would like, but we will be blessed by it. The writer makes this statement in verse two, “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” We are learning the writer wants the Lord to lift him up, and place him on a firm foundation. When you are dealing with life challenges it feels like they are pulling you down, and your foundation is unstable. This is the reason for praying to the Lord, because He is your, “strong tower against your enemy.” The writer raised this statement in verse 4, “let me abide in your tent forever, find refuge under the shelter of your wings.” In essence the writer wants to always remain in the presence of the Lord. Knowing the safety of the Lord will be with him at all times.
You are a child of God, and the Lord will provide the best. However, are you seeking the best the Lord has to offer? Only you can answer this question. In order to receive the best, you have to request it. This is not a statement of arrogance, but one of confidence. The Lord did not heal, deliver, and set you free to be average. He did a great work in you, to bring the best out of you. Therefore, no matter how it feels like things are pulling you down, ask the Lord to lift you up. Continue to walk in your blessings!
