The one thing many people struggle with today is; who can I trust? Many have put their trust in their jobs expecting to be there until they retire, but after 10 years the company lets them go. Others have put their trust in politicians, that did not keep their promises. Some have trusted in their finances only to have the market go down causing them to loose money. The question I want to ask is: how many people are putting their trust in God? In Proverbs 3:5-6 king Solomon is letting us know the importance in trusting the Lord. In verse 5 it says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.” If you want to experience stability you must first know who to trust. The
Lord is the only one that can give us this stability, but we must understand the requirements. We have to trust the Lord with our entire heart, in essence there is nothing in our lives we are to keep from Him. When we trust the Lord with everything He gives us peace, and worry will have to leave. Also, we will not rely on our own intellect, but on the Lord.
Then we read in verse 6 “in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” In everything we are able to do we will thank the Lord. Why? There is nothing I’m able to do without the blessings and strength from the Lord. Solomon wants us to recognize the power and authority of the Lord, because without Him, we are crooked. People today are frustrated, angry, and lost, because the path they are on is crooked. The only way to get to the straight path is to trust the Lord.
Are you crooked? One of the definitions for crooked is “bent or twisted out of shape or out of place”. When you are not trusting the Lord you are out of place because He is your life giver and wants nothing but the best for your. Therefore, in order to receive what the Lord has for you, there are some changes needed in your life. You have to trust the Lord by not concealing anything from Him, and thank Him for everything you have. Fight against the temptation of doing it your own way, and pray to the Lord for direction, and He will lead you in a straight path. When you make these changes you will be able to say “I am not crooked!”. Be blessed indeed.
