When Israel was in bondage in Egypt, God sent Moses there to free them. Pharaoh would not release the Israelites, even after God sent nine plagues on Egypt, the ruler would not let them go. When these nine plagues came upon Egypt, they did not impact the Israelites, there was nothing they had to do but trust God. However, when the tenth and final plague came, Moses shared with them what the Lord instructed. They had to kill a one year old male lamb without blemish. Then take the blood from the lamb and place it on the doorpost and lintel.

Why does the Lord require them to do this? In order to experience the power of the Lord, we have to be obedient to His will. By putting the lamb’s blood on the doorpost and lintel, is an outward showing of the people saying “God is trusted, in this house”. Therefore, when the Lord sees the blood, He will pass over the house (Exodus 12:13). Where there is no blood on the doorpost,  the Lord will strike down the first born within the household. This is the only plague that came upon Egypt that could impact the Israelites. By following the instructions given to then by Moses, the Lord would pass over their houses. Just as the blood protected the Israelites then, today we are protected by the blood of Jesus Christ. He was without blemish which made Him worthy to give His life, to save us from the bondage of sin. Also the blood allows us to come with confidence into the sanctuary of God. We are welcomed, because our Heavenly Father knows, He is trusted in this house.

This is the time for us to put our complete trust in God, because He is the only reason we are still here. We ought to realize, its nobody but God that has been keeping us. Why, because He can see we are covered in the blood of Jesus Christ. Which signifies God is trusted in this house. This house is our lives, and we were in bad shape until we allowed Jesus to come in. I know we are dealing with a lot, but we can’t allow ourselves to be distracted by anything that will stop us from trusting God. Continue to walk in your blessings!
