We are now in the advent season preparing to celebrate the birth of our savior. He came to let us know we can make it, because he brought us the gift of life. All of us were lost in the darkness with no direction or purpose before our encounter with Jesus Christ. In John 1:1-5 we learn that Jesus was with God before anything was formulated. Also, He came to give us life so that we could realize we have a purpose. The way we are able to fulfill this purpose is through the light of Jesus Christ.
How many of us are feeling like we can’t blossom in the purpose we have been called too? How many of us are feeling like there is a dark cloud still hanging over us? I want you to take time and mediate over John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it” (NRSV). I want us all to realize no matter what is trying to block, hinder, disrupt, or complicate our purpose; Jesus has overcome it. Darkness is the metaphor for anything that tries to stop us. However, Jesus came as an example-not to just show us the way; but to also go the way. So, no matter how tough it gets, we have to remind ourselves we can make it!
