In life we are faced with situations and circumstances that can overwhelm us. We can become overwhelmed when we look to ourselves for the answers, because we realize it is too much for us to handle. A number of things we are going to deal with in life are going to be too much for us to handle. That’s why I’m so glad we serve a God who can handle anything we bring to Him. In 2 Chronicles 20:13-26 we have a situation that was too much for the people to handle and they needed God to intervene. King Jehoshaphat received the news that three armies were going to attack them. He became afraid, because he knew this was too much for the army to handle. However, he did not get stuck in his fear, but called the people together to fast and pray. While they were assembled, God touched one of the Levites, and he told them “the battle is not yours but God’s”. They were also instructed to go down to battle on the next day and stand still and watch God give them the victory. After the king and the people received this news, they bowed down and worshiped God for all He was going to do. The next day when they were going to battle, they were lead by singers giving God praise. When they arrived to the battlefield, there was nothing there but corpses. The people were still praising God, but now it is for what He had done.
Do you find it hard to give God praise in the midst of your situation or circumstances? I want you to know, you are not alone. It’s during these hard times in your life God is letting you know “the battle is not yours, but God’s”. Our Heavenly Father is letting you know it’s too much for you but not for Him. While you are going through take time out to give God praise, and you will see how God will fix it. Hallelujah!
