There is something everyone needs as they move forward doing the will of the Lord, and that is encouragement. The Lord is the One who provides this for His people. He knows all the things we are going to have to deal with, so He encourages us at various times. The purpose for the encouragement is to make us aware quitting is not an option. We have reached this point through the grace of the Lord, so we must continue to keep our focus on Him. When the Israelites were freed from the Egyptians they left immediately because they were leaving bondage behind. When they were in the wilderness wandering around, their minds started to wonder and they started focusing on what they did not have. They lost sight of their freedom and began talking about all they had in Egypt. But, they forgot they were a people that were enslaved by the Egyptians. This is why they needed encouragement from the Lord to keep them focused on the present and not dwell on the past.
In Numbers 6:22-27, the Lord spoke to Moses and gave him words to share with Aaron and his sons. The purpose of these words were to bless the Israelites, and to keep them focused on moving forward. The words of blessing are contained in verses 24-26, and there is something consistent in these verses. Each verse begins with this statement, “The Lord”, to let the Israelites know everything is made possible by Him. Therefore, their obligation is to keep the Lord at the forefront of everything they do. Because, He is the One that is making it all possible as they continue to move forward. Also, to let them know they are not alone. The Israelites will be blessed and kept by the Lord. He will be their protection and will be gracious to them. The favor of the Lord will be upon them, and they will receive His peace. By the Israelites being reminded of this, it will help them to move forward. They are loved by the Lord and need to keep their focus on Him.
Do you know the Lord is encouraging you? Everyday you wake up is a blessing and the Lord is responsible for doing it. When it seemed like you were having a bad day, something happened that made you smile. There were situations that occurred which you thought were going to create problems, but the Lord utilized them for good. How did this all happen? Because the Lord is blessing, keeping, protecting, showing you favor, being gracious, and giving you peace. So, you will not quit on this journey of life with Him. And, you have Jesus Christ who is your advocate sitting at the right hand of God the Father. You have to continue to move forward focusing on the present. Knowing the Lord will work it all out for good. Continue to walk in your blessings!
