As we journey through life there is something that should take place and that is learning lessons from what we have done. When you were young and near the hot stove, your parents told you this is hot don’t touch. But, you had to learn the hard way. However, after experiencing what it felt like to touch something hot. When someone says this is hot, you make it a point not to touch it. Why, because you have felt the pain associated with touching something hot. Prior to you accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior, you were being weighed down by the sin in your life. Truth be told, you didn’t know the impact it had on your life until Jesus removed the sin. Once this happened you were overjoyed by what took place, and you made it a point to share with others what the Lord had done in your life. But, there are some people who have been saved, and have made mistakes along the way. They have not confessed their sin, because they are embarrassed by what they have done. They knew better but they were caught up in the moment and will not confess their sin. Why, because they have not forgiven themselves, so there is no way the Lord can forgive them.
In Psalm 32:1-5, the writer is reaching out to those who have not forgiven themselves. So, they don’t think it’s possible for the Lord to forgive them. In verse 1, the writer shares the attitude of those whose transgressions are forgiven. These individuals are happy, because their sin has been covered. In essence their sin is no longer exposed. This theme continues in verse 2, the Lord has mercy on them and they are not living to deceive people. In verses 3 and 4 the writer is sharing the impact it had on him, because he was trying to hide his sin. The writer shares the physical and emotional impact it had on his life, because he was remaining silent. When you are aware of your actions and you know it’s wrong, that’s when the physical and emotional impact occurs. The writer is letting you know there is no way to ignore what you have done, because you know it was wrong. Then the writer realized my situation cannot improve until I make the decision to do something about it. First the writer had to acknowledge his sin, because he understood hiding it was not working, but hurting. Once the writer confessed his transgressions to the Lord everything changed. He was forgiven for the guilt of his sin, and he was able to live again. The physical and emotional burden has been lifted by the Lord.
Why are you trying to hide your sin? You have been impacted physically and emotionally, now is the time to turn it over to the Lord. You have been creating an obstacle for yourself, and dismissing the opportunity to be forgiven. You have to take the time to confess your sins to the Lord, in order to be forgiven. The Lord wants to forgive you, but you must first own your sin. How you ask, by confessing to the Lord what you did. Once this is done the obstacle you created is removed, and now the opportunity to move forward is available. So, what are you waiting for? Continue to walk in your blessings!
