In 2 Corinthians 5:21, Paul is sharing with the Church in Corinth what Jesus Christ did for us. The purpose for sharing this was to give them an understanding of how much they are loved by God. Our Heavenly Father took all of our sin, and placed it on His only begotten Son, who knew no sin. His Son willingly received all of our sin, and took it to the cross to be crucified with Him. Jesus Christ became the final sin offering to allow the entire world to be saved. This is the ultimate act of love. Prior to Jesus doing this, we were in a condition that left us on the outside. Incapable of coming inside, because we were captivated by sin. After Jesus Christ was resurrected from the grave, He sent out an invitation to the world Inviting us to come inside. In order to come in, you had to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Once this happened, you were saved and covered in His blood. When you came to the door to come in, the angel would allow you to enter. Why, because you have been covered in the blood of the Lamb. Once you come in the angels begin to rejoice, because you are no longer lost, but have been found. Our Heavenly Father smiles at you, because you understand how much He loves you.
This is what the Lenten season is all about, the people of God remembering how much they are loved. Also, the sacrifice that has been made to give us the opportunity to come inside. Now that we are inside, we can go back outside and help others to understand they have received the same invitation. If they respond as instructed by the invitation they can come inside with us, and hear the angels rejoice, because they are inside. We share this because we want others to understand how much they are loved! Be blessed indeed.
