Today we are celebrating Broad Rock Baptist Church’s 130th anniversary and we give the Lord all the glory, honor, and praise. When a Church has continued to exist for this long it is not by accident. Let me explain, we understand as Christians the Lord continues to show us grace and mercy. However, for us to thrive and provide ministry we have to know where our help comes from. Also, we have to function in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord and that is only possible when we move forward in faith. In order for us to be sustained, we must have a foundation that is able to withstand the storms. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of the Church, and when we build upon this foundation the storms will not break us. The longer a Church exists causes the saints to be humble, and praise the Lord. Why, because we continue to build on the Rock, and His name is Jesus Christ! In Luke 6:46-48, these verses have the framework on how the Church is able to withstand the storms. The framework consists first of hearing the words of the Lord. You have to be attentive to the words the Lord shares because they are our instructions. This takes us to the next step, and that is to do as the word states. When you take the initiative to do as the word states, you will allow the words you hear to be rooted in your heart. As you are listening, you are also preparing the soil in your heart to receive the Good News that is being planted within. After being planted within you, these Words become your guide on how to live. When this takes place you are planting yourself upon the rock (Jesus Christ). Therefore when the storms come, their intention is to destroy everything in its path, because the enemy does not want anything to have the opportunity to grow. However, once you place your trust in the Lord, and move forward in faith the enemy is incapable of stopping or blocking any blessings. Saints, we praise the Lord because 130 years ago, the saints of the Lord made the decision to hear and act on the words of the Lord. In essence they were willing to put forth the effort to build a foundation upon the Rock. And every generation that has followed continues to do as they did in the beginning, and that’s why Broad Rock Baptist Church is still here. Saints, we must continue to build upon the Rock, because eventually a storm will come through. When this happens we will not be moved, because Jesus Christ is our Rock. Are you hearing what the Lord is instructing? You are the Church, and you have the obligation of hearing and doing as the Lord guides. You can’t wait for someone else to do it, the Lord is waiting on you. Stability and growth requires you to put forth the effort to hear and do the will of the Lord. Therefore, you have to build your foundation on the rock, because it will not be moved. It’s time for you to walk by faith, and do as you have heard. When the storms come to attempt to destroy all the Lord has done, it will not be possible. Because, you are building upon the foundation of the Rock (Jesus Christ). Continue to walk in your blessings!
