This is a Sunday of rejoicing and that is what took place as Jesus entered into Jerusalem riding upon a donkey. The people waved their palm leaves and shouted Hosanna, which means save now. That is exactly what Jesus is about to do. In less than a week there would be another crowd shouting, crucify Him. It’s amazing how some people went from rejoicing shouting Hosanna, to yelling in anger to crucify Him. This is the reality of life, when people are following the crowd they are not standing for anything. Therefore, they will fall for anything, and the yelling of anger was led by the leaders, because they wanted to silence Jesus.
Isaiah’s prophecy said, “all we like sheep have gone astray.” In Isaiah 53:6-12, we are able to read about what the Messiah would have to go through, for the sole purpose of saving us. Why, because we have all gone astray. At the end of verse 6 it states, “the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” The Lord knew the only way to get us back was to have His only begotten Son to give His life for us. Think about this, we were on a slippery slope and were unable to stop ourselves from falling, because we went astray. The Lord would not allow sin to take us out this way, this is why Jesus came and paid the price for us. He was the only One that could get us off the slippery slope, and place us back into the fold of the Lord.
However, in order for this to happen you must make the decision to accept Jesus Christ into your life. In verse 7 it ends with these words, “He did not open His Mouth.” Jesus knew His actions would speak louder than His words, so He went through without defending Himself or explaining His actions. His actions explained it all without Him having to say a word. At the end of verse 10 it states, “through Him the will of the Lord shall prosper.” In essence Jesus being crucified in Jerusalem and then resurrected was a seed being planted. This seed was going to grow into a vine that would spread all around the world, and when people tried to stop it from growing it grew faster. Because, the will of the Lord will prosper, and cause the Light of the Lord to shine bright in the world. As you move forward in your ministry I want to remind you it will prosper. Because, it is the will of the Lord that will bring light where there used to be darkness. In essence you have been set up for success. Today, I want you to wave your palm leaves and praise the Lord for all He has done in your life. Continue to walk in your blessings!
