The reason Jesus came into the world was to make a difference, and not allow things to continue going in the same direction. In essence, Jesus came to shake things up. It began with His birth, Mary and Joseph had to go to Bethlehem based on the order of the Roman Emperor. Once they arrived, there were no vacancies for rooms so Mary gave birth to Jesus in a stall where the animals were kept. After giving birth to Him, they laid Him in a manger, which is a feeding trough for the animals. There was nothing easy for Mary and Joseph as they prepared for the arrival of baby Jesus. However, through it all the Lord was with them every step of the way. They continued to do all they could to prepare for His birth. Everything they went through had a purpose, the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem. He was born in a stall and laid in a manger, so the shepherds would be able to come and worship Him. And, tell all who would listen what happened to cause them to leave the sheep, and come looking for baby Jesus. There is a purpose for everything the Lord does. He had to shake things up, because He was changing direction to give the entire world an opportunity to be saved.
In Romans 12:1-2, Paul is sharing with them what is needed to have a new life in Christ. He is letting them know to be effective in this new life with Christ, they will not remain the same. The Lord will shake things up in their lives. They will be living in a manner that will allow them to understand the will of God. These are the steps that will have to be taken. First they must present their bodies as a living sacrifice, that is Holy and acceptable to God. This can only happen if they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, by doing this they become holy and acceptable. They are not to continue living as they did prior to knowing Jesus Christ. They are to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. Once you accept Jesus Christ into your life, He will change your thinking. So you will be able to discern what is the will of God, and what is good, acceptable, and perfect.
The arrival of Jesus into your life will shake things up, and nothing will remain the same. Because, you are seeing things through the eyes of Jesus Christ, which sees past the faults and identifies the needs. You will be more compassionate to people, and willing to pray with them. This happened, because you have surrendered your will. Now the Lord can transform your life to doing His will. Continue to walk and your blessings!
