I wonder how many of us look at what the Lord has done in our lives and think I didn’t deserve any of it. You recognized the Lord was not a priority in your life but you were a priority to Him. You may have done some things
you are not proud of, but still the Lord chose to use you. You look at your humble beginnings, but that did not matter to the Lord. There were those who were more educated, doing well financially, and who were active in Church, but He saw you on the outside and brought you in. After all the years you have been serving the Lord, you still wonder at times, why me? I can’t answer that question, but I can say this: the Lord has shown you favor. The Lord knew you would become arrogant, or self absorbed, but you were humbled by His decision to use you. Also, He knew you would not get off track once you started on the path He has laid out. This is why you praise the Lord with so much joy and excitement, because He has shown you favor.
In Luke 1:46-50, we have Mary’s song of praise. Mary is coming to grips with the idea that the Lord has chosen her for a task that would impact the entire world. She was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth nor was her family one of prestige. She saw herself as a lowly servant of the Lord and could not explain why she was chosen. She did realize the Lord had shown her mercy. By doing this, she received the favor of the Lord. Therefore, she was praising the Lord for what He has done in her life. He has put her in a position to do great work for the Lord. Mary was chosen to be the mother of the Savior of the world. She was responsible for raising Jesus Christ. Mary was caring for the One that would give an opportunity for all to be saved. This was humbling and overwhelming at the same time, but she knew the Lord would not leave nor forsake her. This is why she would give the Lord all the glory, honor, and praise!
What has the Lord chosen you to do? Is it humbling and overwhelming you, because it seems like this is something you are not worthy to do? The Lord does not make mistakes, He knows what you are capable of doing. Now, it’s time for you to get out of your own way and let the favor of the Lord move in you. He did not make a mistake. Continue to walk in your blessings.
