What is the purpose of communication? To speak in a manner that will allow the hearer to understand the information you are sharing with them. Also, you communicate to let it be known you are in need of help. You will also share with someone how you appreciate what they have done for you. I can continue to give examples, but I think you understand. Have you ever heard someone say, I have to speak my mind, and I don’t care who is offended by what I say? There are times your words have to be direct and to the point to get your hearer’s attention. However, you want to make sure when you speak you are being led by the Lord. Because, you want your words to be acceptable by the Lord, and this is only possible when you embrace His will.
In Psalm 19:14, the writer is making a statement, with the intention of speaking words that are acceptable to the Lord. The writer understands every word he speaks the Lord hears. Therefore, he wants his words to be acceptable to the Lord. The writer knows the mouth speaks the words, but the words originate from the heart. In essence the mouth is the verbal communication of what comes from the heart. The writer speaks about the meditation that is taking place in his heart. There is a need to ponder, consider, and dwell on the Word of God to gain wisdom and knowledge. The writer is going through this process to learn how to live in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord. So, when he speaks his words are consistent with how he is living, this allows his words to be acceptable to the Lord. This is important to him, because the Lord is his Rock and Redeemer. He knows the Lord is the stabilizer of his life, and the foundation upon which he stands. This was made possible when he was set free from the sins in his life. The writer wants to speak in a way that will let it be known I’m still here, because of all the Lord has done for me.
How important is it for you to speak in a manner that is acceptable to the Lord? It begins with the relationship you have with the Lord. The reality is this, the more you value this relationship will determine how you speak and treat others. When you know you’re highly valued by the Lord, you will see the same in others. So, when you speak, the love in your heart will come out of your mouth. Therefore, your words will be acceptable to the Lord. Your purpose for doing this is to spread the Good News everywhere you go. Why, to let it be known, I’m still here, because of all the Lord has done for me. Continue to walk in your blessings!
