We all know someone who was excited about starting something new, but after a short period of time they lost interest. The question is why did they lose interest? Were they caught up in the moment, and once they got started it was going to take up more time than they were willing to give. Or, was it the unexpected obstacles that occurred causing them to become frustrated. Or, was it the lack of participation of others, meaning they were going to be responsible for doing most of the work. There could have been a number of other reasons, but the reality is the work they started was not completed. This is why it’s hard to get people to help, because they don’t want to commit themselves if they are not going to see it through.

In Philippians 1:6, Paul is writing to encourage the saints to embrace the opportunities before them. The verse states, “I am confident of this, that the One who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.” Paul understands something about the Lord, He calls you to do the work of ministry. Because, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Paul starts off by saying, “l am confident”. He wants them to know what he has come to realize for himself. When he accepted the calling on his life, and moved forward to embrace the opportunities. Initially he may have been a little apprehensive, but he continued to walk by faith. By moving forward in faith, it allowed him to see the Lord work out everything for His good. Therefore, Paul wants them to know they can have confidence in the work before them. Why, because the Lord will finish what He has started, and they have to continue to move forward in faith by embracing the opportunities. In essence Paul is letting them know giving up is not an option for the Lord. Therefore, if you get weary tell the Lord. When you feel everything is working against you, tell the Lord. Keep the line of communication open with the Lord, and He will guide you through it all. Paul wants them to know giving up is not an option. Why, because the Lord is all in for you, so you have to make the decision to be all in for Him.

Ministry is about you sacrificing yourself to the will of the Lord. What opportunities have you embraced, but you are feeling weary?  Have you taken the time to tell the Lord about it? The Lord has not isolated you, so don’t isolate yourself and toy with the idea of giving up. Giving up is not an option for the Lord, nor should it be for you. Tell Him about how you are feeling and He will guide you through. I want you to remember, you are not alone. Continue to walk in your blessings!
