In Jude 1:20-23, the writer is making the saints aware of those that are trying to change
their faith. By sharing information which is not consistent with what they initially
received. When the Gospel was presented to them they were inspired by the truth and
embraced Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. They started with a firm foundation in
faith, and now some are coming attempting to change what they have believed. This is
why Jude shared with them in verse 20, “beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy
faith.” In essence the Gospel is the foundation you embraced through faith, now you
have to build yourself up in your faith in the Lord.
The changes that have occurred in your life came from you establishing a relationship
with Jesus Christ. Through this relationship, you have been transformed from sinner to
saint. You are no longer lost, broken, or forgotten, you are a child of God. You are a part
of a Holy Family because you have placed your faith in God, who is Holy. This is why
Jude uses these words, “most holy faith.” You have been set apart from the things of
this world. Therefore, you are building yourself up on your most holy faith. You are a
new creation anointed to accomplish great things in the Lord. The building process is
you growing your relationship with the One, who looked past your faults and saw your
needs. This is what took place when you stepped out in faith in giving your life to Jesus
Christ.
Therefore, you will not allow anyone to come along and demolish all the Lord has done
with your life. Jude shares something else you need to do in verse 20-21, “pray in the
Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God.” You will be incapable of building
yourself up without praying, and staying connected in the love of God. The Lord has
given you everything to grow, and block the confusion some are trying to create. By
doing as instructed you are allowing the Lord to make an impact in your life.  Jude also
wants you to know through your spiritual growth, you will have compassion for others.
When you see others going astray, you will not turn your back to them. But, toward them
to help learn more about the Lord.
When you see others about to fall into a fire of destruction, the Lord will give you the
strength to snatch them up before they can be burned. This is made possible when you
build yourself up in the most holy faith.  Are you building yourself up in the Lord? It’s not
enough for you to be satisfied with being saved, because the Lord has people He wants
you to help. And the only way to help them is to know, grow, and go in the Lord. Which
means you have to take the initiative to build on your relationship with the Lord. Through
prayer, and staying connected to God in love, and reading His word. Yes, this will
require effort, but remember the amount of effort the Lord put forth to save you. There
are no excuses. Continue to walk in your blessings!
