I wonder how many times we have come to a wall in our lives and immediately felt I can’t overcome it. When you look at the wall in comparison to yourself it is clear, you have to go another way. The reality is, there will always be a wall at some point, and you are expected to go a different way. I want you to know all walls are not physical structure. It could be anything that is beyond your current means. The wall is to remind you this is not possible, so turn around. The hardest walls you have to overcome are the ones you have put up. In your life you have been told many times, you will not amount to anything. So, it has caused you to put up a wall to remind yourself you are not able. Therefore, when someone attempts to encourage you to take a chance, immediately you look at your wall and say I can’t.
This moves me to raise this question, have we put walls in the Church to limit what we can accomplish? How many times have you heard people in Church say, “we have not done that before.” These are the people in the Church that are looking at the walls they have created, to remind themselves we can’t. In Joshua 6, we have the Israelites entering into the promise land, and the first place they get to is Jericho. They are now looking at a walled city they are to overcome. Their leader Joshua is looking at this wall as well, and the Lord says to him, “See, I have handed Jericho over to you.” Now Joshua has to make a choice, will he believe the Lord, or what he sees? Joshua is not shaken by what he sees, because he knows the Lord is the reason they have made it this far. Now is not the time to start doubting the power of the Lord, because the Lord has already given them the land. But they have to believe and move forward as the Lord guides. Joshua is given instructions from the Lord on how the wall will fall. They had to march around the entire wall once for six days, and as they go around, they are not to say anything. The only thing they will hear is the seven priest blowing trumpets as they are walking around. I know many were wondering why are we doing this, because it does not make sense. After doing this for six days, on the seventh day they are to walk around the city seven times without making any noise. After they have walked around seven times the priests will make a long blast on the trumpet, to let the people know it’s time to shout. When the people started shouting after hearing the long blast, the walls around the city of Jericho fell to the ground. This happened because the Israelites made the decision to walk by faith and not by sight. What wall are you looking at; thinking you can’t overcome it, and you are getting ready to turn away. I want you to know you can’t, but the Lord can. And, He is going to cause it to fall, and it will happen once you put your trust in the Lord and walk by faith. The wall will fall once you make the decision to step out in faith and begin to praise the Lord. It’s not about how loud you can shout, but is this praise coming from your heart believing the Lord will make it happen. When this happens, the Lord will honor your obedience and praise, and cause the wall to fall. Continue to walk in your blessings!
