Have you been in need of something, but did not know how to approach the person who could help. You tried throwing hints to them about what you were in need of, but they didn’t respond. When you made the decision to ask for their help, they had no problem assisting. This is how some have approached the Lord, they would not directly ask Him. Then you became frustrated because your needs were not met. When I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I didn’t know how to ask the Lord for anything. Since the Lord knows all, I expected Him to supply my needs without me asking. I can’t remember if it was through a sermon, or in Bible study when the light came on. It was shared, the Lord knows but He wants to hear it from you. That’s when I realized, I’m responsible for making my needs known to the Lord. Therefore, it’s on me.
In James 1:5-8, the writer wants us to know, if you are lacking in wisdom ask God. There’s so much the people of God are missing, because they are not asking God to provide what is needed. In these verses, James is specifically talking about wisdom. Wisdom is essential, because it allows the Word of God to come alive through you. In essence wisdom is living your life according to God’s word. By doing this you are not just telling people what the Word says, but you are living it. You can’t receive from God without asking, but it’s only possible when you ask in faith. Faith is the key to getting God’s attention. However, that does not mean it will happen immediately, but you will not doubt. Why, because you know the God you serve is faithful, and will respond in His time. If you have doubts when asking God, then don’t expect to receive anything. The only way to have stability in God is when you function by faith. Therefore, you will no longer be lacking in wisdom.
I challenge you to place your complete trust in God, by asking Him to provide what you’re lacking. When you allow doubt to reside in your life, then don’t expect God to provide. When you make the decision to function by faith, and remove the doubt then expect God to supply what’s needed. Why, because it’s on me! Continue to walk in your blessings.
