Today in Church palm leaves are handed out to all entering into the sanctuary. They are handed out to commemorate what took place when Jesus was coming into Jerusalem. The people waved them and shouted hosanna. They were praising God for sending Him to do a great work. Many who were there did not fully understand what was happening, but they wanted to be a part of it.

This causes me to raise this question, what is your purpose for coming to Church? Are you in attendance, because you understand your existence is in the hands of the Lord. When you confess with your mouth, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead. This is when your life was changed, and you have been serving the Lord ever since. Therefore, you are in Church to serve, grow in wisdom and understanding, and to assist others wanting to know Jesus Christ. There are some who come wanting to see miracles to give them a reason to accept Him into their lives. In essence they need to see to believe.

In John 12:12-19, we have his account of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. However, John’s account differs from the other Gospels, because he is the only one that has Lazarus being raised from the dead. And he is with Jesus along with all who were there, and saw what took place. This miracle was creating an uproar among the people, so the chief priests were conspiring to kill Lazarus along with Jesus. They wanted to remove the evidence of the miracle, and the One who did it. This was the reason why so many people were there, to see the walking miracle. The man who was dead, but had been raised from death. There were a number of people that saw the walking miracle, but did that cause them to believe? Based on what took place a few days later, I would say no. Because, some of these same people were influenced by the high priest, to shout and crucify Him. The miracle is the resource, but you have to be moved to want to know the source. When this happens you are impacted by the source, which causes you to believe. There were a number of people with palm branches shouting, “Hosanna”, which means save now. The high priests were rattled, upset, and angry, because the people were praising Jesus. This day in Jerusalem was truly exciting for all who were there embracing the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Are you excited about Jesus Christ? He is the source of the miracles and blessings in your life. You are a resource He wants to touch. He knows all about your struggles and disappointments, and wants you to believe in Him and turn everything over to Him. Nothing will change until you make the decision to release it to Jesus. Once you do, the Lord will do the impossible. So go ahead and wave your hand, because you believe it’s already done. Continue to walk in your blessings.
