For the next two weeks we will be discussing the birth of Jesus, and the impact it makes on the earth. When the Roman Emperor sent out the decree for all to be registered, it caused a disruption within the land of the Jews. Many of them like Joseph had moved away from their roots, and had to make the trip back to their home town. Which means Joseph and Mary had to travel several weeks to get to Bethlehem, while she was pregnant with the Savior of the world. The word Bethlehem means, house of bread. This was the place where Micah prophesied where the Messiah was to be born. Therefore, this disruption was necessary in order for Jesus to be born in Bethlehem. We may call it a disruption, but it was all a part of God’s plan.
In Luke 2:1-7, we have the birth of Jesus in the town of Bethlehem, but there was a lot that happened leading up to His birth. Joseph and Mary felt they had made it through the disruption, because they were on one accord. However, this was not the only disruption they were going to have. Once Mary was in her third trimester of her pregnancy, they had to deal with another disruption. They had to travel to Bethlehem in order to be registered, because this is the home town for Joseph’s family. There is something we have to understand about disruptions, they have a purpose. They occur every time God is growing us, to increase our faith and trust in Him. Mary and Joseph had to step out in faith, and place their trust in the Lord. While they were moving forward making their way to Bethlehem, I don’t think they were excited about making the trip. But, they understood it was necessary for them to be registered in Bethlehem. In making the trip their faith and trust grew in the Lord. Once they arrived there was another disruption, because there were no rooms available. So, they were left outside with the animals. As you can see there was a lot that occurred before the birth of Jesus, but it was all a part of God’s plan. When you think about the birth of our Savior, know the road was not easy for Mary and Joseph. They had to deal with a number of disruptions to fill God’s plan. Once you received the Savior of the world, you now have a gift that keeps on blessing you. Also know, this gift is going to create a number of disruptions in your life. That will grow you spiritually in ways beyond your imagination, because you are living by faith, trusting the Lord. Continue to walk in your blessings.
