When you think about your father, how do you view him? There are a number of things you may say about him. He is someone that does not appear to have a lot of compassion, because he is always getting on you for the things you haven’t done. He is someone you don’t fully understand, because he is hard to read. When things happen he will do what is needed to correct the problem, and won’t make a big fuss about it. He will not tolerate you sitting around having a pity party, and will tell you to suck it up and keep moving forward. He made sure to do what was needed to provide for his family. However, do you know how much he loves you?

In Luke 8:40-42, 49-56, shares what a father did for his only child. His name is Jairus , a leader of the synagogue, and his daughter was at the point of death. What drove him to seek out Jesus? Everything that was done for his daughter was not working and he knew about the power of Jesus. I don’t know if he saw Jesus heal anyone, or he was told about what He had done. He was at his wits end and he was not going to let this opportunity pass. However, there is a dilemma.  The Jewish leaders are at odds with Jesus, because He speaks about them not doing what is required. Jairus knew about this and by him going to Jesus would put his position as a leader in jeopardy. This didn’t matter to him, because his love for his daughter was more important than his position.

Once Jairus came to Jesus, he fell at His feet and begged Jesus to come to his house. He had no problem humbling himself in the presence of Jesus. This man was not going to let the opportunity for his daughter to be healed pass by. There were people around Jesus who knew this man was in a position of authority, and he has no problem humbling himself. And it didn’t matter to him what anyone thought about him humbling himself before Jesus. All that mattered was for him to convince Jesus to come to his house, and heal his daughter. His actions of faith and love, moved Jesus to go with him. As they were on their way, something happened getting Jesus’ attention, delaying them from moving forward. Once the issue was resolved, someone came from Jairus’s house to let him know his daughter was dead. Jesus heard what Jairus was told and replied, “Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be saved.” Jairus has to make a decision, will he continue to have faith in Jesus in spite of the news he has received. He made a decision to allow love to win, and he continued to his house with Jesus. His daughter was healed by Jesus, because he allowed love to win.

I want you to know your father loves you, and he did everything for you to win. There were obstacles he had to face, but he would not allow them to block the blessings. He knew the opportunity was greater, so he had to allow love to win. Continue to walk in your blessings!
