The one thing Jesus wants the entire world to have is great love for Him and our Heavenly Father. In Luke 7:36 – 50, we have a story of a woman that expressed great love. She washed Jesus feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. After drying them she began to kiss his feet and anointed them with ointment. While this was taking place, a Pharisee believed Jesus was not operating under the authority of God. If He was, he would have known the type of woman He was allowing to touch Him. The Pharisee did not understand these are the people Jesus came to save. The real question is: why did this woman do this? I believe she heard Jesus speak and was moved to show her appreciation, because the words He spoke changed her life. She was no longer going to live a life of sin. Now she had been presented with the opportunity to show Jesus how much she loved Him. This woman was not going to allow this moment to pass without her showing great love to Jesus.
How are we expressing great love to the One that took us from nothing to something? The answer is not always money, but it does help the ministry move forward. Have we humbled ourselves in His presence and are not ashamed to worship Him? Do we find ourselves quenching The Holy Spirit in church, because we are more concerned with what others will say about us? Think about the woman that washed Jesus feet. When she entered the room many knew what type of life she was living, but that did not stop her. Why? Because, she had great love for Jesus. So, what is our excuse for not showing great love to Jesus for all that He has done for us!
