Focus on God!

Focus on God! The question I’m posing to you is this, are you able to rejoice in the Lord when it appears you are barely able to make it? Will you be able to say, “God is good all the time”? In Habakkuk 3:17-19 this is what the prophet Habakkuk did, he rejoiced in the Lord. There are no figs on the trees, no fruit on the vines, no food from the fields, and no live stock in the stalls. It appears to be nothing available to sustain his existence. However, that was not how he saw it. Rather than complain about what he does not have, he is going to rejoice in having the God of his salvation. Because he realizes the Lord is his strength and what he does not have, God will provide it. This was a trying time for Israel, because the threat was real from their enemies. They saw how they were successful in conquering other nations, and felt they were next. The prophet wanted the people to focus on God, not on their situation. The best way to focus on God is to worship Him, and realize there is no problem bigger than our God! Therefore, we will focus on the giver of all things, because whatever we lack, He will supply.

Habakkuk wanted the people to see the opportunity before them rather than focus on the obstacle. It was true then and still true today. There will always be an obstacle, and how you respond to it will make the difference in your life. If you focus on worrying, it will have a negative impact on your well-being. However, God wants us to see the opportunity for Him to do the impossible. This is what God will do for us, because we are God’s investment! Be blessed indeed.
