Fourth Sunday of Advent

During the season of Advent, we think about the meaning of Jesus’ coming and get ready to celebrate his birth.

During Advent, we remember some of the people who helped the world get ready for the Savior’s coming. One way we remember is by using an Advent wreath. Each week we light one candle on the wreath to remember someone who heard and told the good news of the Savior’s coming.

On the fourth Sunday of Advent, we light the candle to remember the shepherds who told others the good news.

The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they heard and seen, as it had been told them. (Luke 2:20)

Rejoice and praise God! The Savior has come!

Let us tell others the good news of the Savior’s birth in the music we sing.

Advent Prayer:

Dear God. our hearts and minds are filled with joy and thanks today.

Thank you for the shepherds, who returned to their work praising God and telling others the good news that the Savior had been born.

Help us to tell the good news of the birth of Jesus, our Savior, to many people, just as the shepherds did long ago in Bethlehem.
